Removal Procedure

Caution: In order to avoid being burned, do not service the exhaust system while it is still hot. Service the system when it is cool.

Caution: Always wear protective goggles and gloves when removing exhaust parts as falling rust and sharp edges from worn exhaust components could result in serious personal injury.

  1. Remove the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 691348  Size: SH
  3. Remove the 4 bolts securing both the exhaust pipe heat shield (1) and the exhaust pipe front heat shield (2) to the floor panel.

  4. Object Number: 691349  Size: SH
  5. Remove the 4 bolts securing the exhaust pipe heat shield to the floor panel.
  6. Remove the exhaust pipe heat shield from the floor panel in the following order:
  7. 4.1. Slide the exhaust pipe heat shield rearward, out from under the exhaust pipe front heat shield.
    4.2. lower the exhaust pipe heat shield from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 691349  Size: SH
  1. Position the exhaust pipe heat shield to the floor panel in the following order:
  2. 1.1. Slide the exhaust pipe heat shield forward, under the exhaust pipe front heat shield.
    1.2. Raise the rear of the heat shield upward, aligning the holes in the exhaust pipe heat shield with the threaded holes in the floor panel.
  3. Install and finger tighten the 4 bolts securing the exhaust pipe heat shield to the floor panel.

  4. Object Number: 691348  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the 4 bolts securing both the exhaust pipe heat shield (1) and the exhaust pipe front heat shield (2) to the floor panel.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust pipe front heat shield bolts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  7. Tighten the 4 exhaust pipe heat shield bolts previously installed in step 2.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust pipe heat shield bolts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  9. Install the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement .
