Removal Procedure
- Recover the refrigerant. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
in Engine Controls 4.6 L.
- Remove the upper condenser
tube retaining bracket.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the low pressure switch.
- Disconnect the condenser
tube from the evaporator.
- Remove the retaining line
bolt (2) from the condenser.
- Disconnect the line from the condenser.
- Remove the bolt from the lower retaining bracket.
Installation Procedure
- Install the condenser tube into the vehicle.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Connect the condenser
tube to the condenser.
Tighten
Tighten the condenser tube retaining bolt (2) to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the lower condenser tube retaining bracket.
- Install the screwinto
the upper retaining bracket.
- Install the condenser
tube to the evaporator.
Tighten
Tighten the condenser tube fitting to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
in Engine Controls 4.6 L.
- Recharge the A/C system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A
.
