Removal Procedure
- Recover the refrigerant. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Remove the engine splash shield. Refer to
Engine Splash Shield Replacement
in Body Front End.
- Disconnect the left engine oil cooler line at the oil filter adapter.
Refer to
Oil Filter Adapter Replacement
in Engine Mechanical 4.6L.
- Remove the bolt that retains
the compressor hose assembly (1) tothe compressor.
- Remove the A/C compressor
mounting bracket retaining bolts.
- Remove the A/C compressor bracket from the compressor.
- Remove the A/C compressor mounting bracket.
Installation Procedure
- Install the A/C compressor
mounting bracket.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the A/C compressor mounting bracket retaining bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the front bracket bolts to 50 N·m (38 lb ft).
- Tighten the side bracket bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 100 N·m (74 lb ft).
- Install the compressor
hose bolt (1).
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).
- Connect the left engine oil cooler line at the oil filter adapter.
Refer to

- Recharge the A/C system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A
.
- Install the engine splash shield. Refer to
Engine Splash Shield Replacement
in Body Front End.
