If the system does close properly, then suspect either the sunroof limit switch soft stop signal circuit or the sunroof limit switch low reference circuit for a poor connection or intermittent.
A open ground circuit between the grounding lug to the ground splice causes the sunroof to operate sluggish and will not complete a close operation. The sunroof system is finding another poor path to ground through another component.
