Power Window System Components
The power window system consists of the following components:
• | Accessory time delay relay |
• | Power window system circuit breaker - WINDOWS 30A |
LH Window Switch Operation
Battery voltage is applied from the WINDOWS 30 amp circuit breaker through
the battery positive voltage circuit to the retained accessory power relay
(RAP). The RAP relay supplies voltage through the RAP relay switch supply
voltage circuit to the LH window switch under the following conditions:
• | The ignition is in the RUN position. |
• | The retained accessory power (RAP) is active. |
When an UP switch on the LH window switch is operated, the battery voltage
is applied to the power window motor. The power window motor is grounded
through the DOWN contacts of the LH window switch to G204. The motor runs
in order to drive the power window up. When a DOWN switch in the LH window
switch is operated, the battery voltage is applied to the power window motor
in the opposite direction. The power window motor is grounded through the
UP contacts in the LH window switch to G204. The motor runs in order to drive
the power window down.
Express Down Feature Operation
The express down feature fully opens the left front power window automatically.
This feature is activated by momentarily pressing the LH window switch past
the first detent. If the UP button is pressed while the power window is in
the express mode, the power window stops. When the express mode is activated,
the LH window switch applies the voltage to the left front power window motor
through the power window motor left front down control circuit (CKT 165
BRN). This action causes the motor to run. When the motor reaches the full-down
position, a motor stall is detected by the LH window switch. This condition
turns OFF the voltage to the motor.
RH Window Switch Operation
Battery voltage is applied from the WINDOWS circuit breaker through
the battery positive voltage circuit to the retained accessory power relay
(RAP). The RAP relay supplies the voltage through the RAP relay switch supply
voltage circuit and splice S322 to the RH window switch under the following
conditions:
• | The ignition is in the RUN position. |
When the UP switch is pressed, the voltage is applied to one terminal
of the power window motor through the power window motor right front up control
circuit (CKT 666 DK BLU). Ground is applied to the opposite
terminal of the power window motor from the LH window switch through the right
front power window switch on the following circuits:
• | The power window master switch right front down signal circuit
(CKT 167 TAN). |
• | The power window motor right front down control circuit (CKT 667
BRN). |
When the DOWN switch is pressed, the voltage is applied to one terminal
of the power window motor through the power window motor right front down
control circuit (CKT 667 BRN). Ground is applied to the opposite terminal
of the power window motor from the LH window switch through the RH window
switch on the following circuits:
• | The power window master switch right front up signal circuit (CKT 166
LT BLU) |
• | The power window motor right front up control circuit (CKT 666
DK BLU). |
