Removal Procedure
Caution: If a window is cracked but still intact, crisscross the window with
masking tape in order to reduce the risk of damage or personal injury.
Important: Before cutting out a stationary window, apply a double layer of masking
tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces and the interior trim.
- Open the doors.
- Partially remove the door opening weather-strip. Refer to
Door Opening Weatherstrip Replacement
in Doors.
- Disengage the lace molding.
- Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to
Rear Seat Cushion Replacement
in Seats.
- Remove the rear seat back. Refer to
Rear Seat Back Replacement
in Seats.
- Remove the rear quarter trim panel. Refer to
Rear Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Remove the screws that
retain the quarter window trim to the body.
- Grasp the trim and pull
the trim from the window.
Remove the quarter window inner trim (1).
Caution: When working with any type of glass or sheet metal with exposed or rough
edges, wear approved safety glasses and gloves in order to reduce
the chance of personal injury.
- Work from inside the vehicle in order to remove the screws (1)
that retain the window (2) to the pinchweld
flange.
Important: The studs that retain the window may interfere with the cutting tool.
It may be necessary to push the window away from the vehicle in order to
completely cut the urethane adhesive.
- Keep the cutting edge of the tool against the window. Do this from
inside the vehicle.
This will allow the urethane adhesive to
be separated from the quarter window.
• | Leave a base of urethane on the pinchweld flange. |
• | The only suitable lubrication is clear water. |
• | Use the J 39032
or equivalent in order to cut the urethane bead from the window and body
to remove the quarter window. |
• | Working from the outside, cutting along the forward edge of the
window. |
- With the aid of an assistant, carefully push the window outward
in order to remove the quarter window from the pinchweld flange.
Installation Procedure
- Install the quarter window into the opening. Refer to
Adhesive Installation of Stationary Windows
.
- Install the screws that
retain the quarter window.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the screws (1) into the window module.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1.5 N·m (13 lb in).
- Install the quarter window
trim (1).
- Install the rear quarter trim panel. Refer to
Rear Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Install the rear seat back. Refer to
Rear Seat Back Replacement
in Seats.
- Install the seat cushion. Refer to
Rear Seat Cushion Replacement
in Seats.
- Install the door opening weather-strip. Refer to
Door Opening Weatherstrip Replacement
in Doors.
- Secure the lace molding.
- Remove the double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of
the painted surfaces and from the interior trim.
- Close the door.
