DSIB AND SERVICE BULLETIN FILE GROUP NUMBERS

SUBJECT: DSIB AND SERVICE BULLETIN FILE GROUP NUMBERS

A few months ago we sent two complimentary copies of bulletin binders and index tabs to all dealers. There were a few changes to the index tab numbering. These included eliminating groups 3A through 3E and adding group 3; eliminating groups 4A through 4C and adding group 4; eliminating groups 6A through 6D and 6F and adding group 6 (group 6E still remains a separate section); and adding Group 5E - Anti-Lock Brakes. Additionally, groups for campaigns and DSIB's were eliminated. These changes were made to keep the total tabs to a workable number and to eliminate groups which only had a few bulletins published each year. Campaigns and DSIB's should now be filed within their appropriate group.

We are going to change the group numbers which appear on our Service bulletins to reflect the index tabs we are currently using. For groups 3, 4, and 6, we are going to start group sequence numbering at 1 beginning with the 1991 model year. Refer to Figure 1.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
