CENTRAL DOOR UNLOCK OPERATION SERVICE REPAIR INFO

SUBJECT: CENTRAL DOOR UNLOCK OPERATION

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1991 BROUGHAMS

With the addition of automatic door locks to the standard features on 1991 Broughams, central door unlock is not included on all 1991 Broughams as well. However, there are central door unlock operational differences between vehicles built with and without Universal Theft Deterrent (UTD).

o On vehicles with UTD (RPO code UA6), the central door unlock will operate from both the driver's and passenger's door lock cylinder.

o On vehicles without UTD, the central door unlock will only operate from the driver's door lock cylinder.

This is because only vehicles with UTD are built with a door lock cylinder switch in the passenger's door. Brougham Service Information and Owner's Manuals will be updated with this information.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
