DIGITAL CLUSTER DESIGNS PART NUMBERS FOR BOTH TYPES

SUBJECT: 1987 "C" CAR DIGITAL CLUSTERS

A running change was implemented on December 15, 1986 to 1987 "C" car digital clusters. Internal cluster circuitry was modified to increase yield and improve reliability without altering fit or function. Also, two observable changes were made to enhance appearance.

1. Odometer and trip odometer leading zeros were eliminated except in the two least significant digits as indicated below.

Mileage (MI/KM) Odometer Display Trip Odometer Display --------------- ---------------- ---------------------

0 -----00 ---0.0 1/2 -----00 ---0.5 5 1/2 -----05 ---5.5 12 -----12 --12.0 115 ----115 -115.0

In the table above "-" indicates a blank space.

2. The "E/M" (English/Metric) and "SET" buttons are slightly larger and use improved appliques.

To prevent owner dissatisfaction, order exchange units to match the core cluster. Part numbers for carry over clusters and modified clusters are listed below. Replacement clusters must be ordered as exchange units through an AC Delco Service Center as instructed in DSIB 87-I-1B.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
