INITIAL 1987 LABOR TIME GUIDE MAJOR CHANGES ON MICROFICHE

An initial 1987 Labor Time Guide on Microfiche has been published and should reach dealerships during the first week in September.

The Labor Time Guide will also be available in paper format for those dealers who have subscribed to the "Paper" Labor Time Guide. For dealers who are not currently enrolled, the Paper Labor Time Guide is offered on a subscription basis in addition to the microfiche and includes an initial publication, one revision, and a final update. Subscriptions are available (item K2436P) at a cost of $49.00 each from:

Helm Incorporated P.O. Box 3617 Highland Park, Michigan 44203

During the last twelve months, we received 215 requests for review letters. Of these 215 requests, 39% resulted in an increase in time. Another 26% resulted in the addition of a new labor operation or some type of favorable action. Special mention is given to dealers in the Los Angeles Zone for their excellent participation in submitting 97 requests or 45% of the total.

Major changes on the 1987 microfiche include:

1. New V-6 Cimarron times due to an engine design change. 2. New times for the entire panel repair section. 3. The addition of an exterior trim chart for Eldorados and Sevilles to aid in finding lab" operations.

In response to dealer requests, current changes to the Labor Time Guide will be published in bulletin form between revisions. This should enhance dealer warranty claims processing by having the most current information available to each dealership.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
