As part of the Gold Key Delivery System, Cadillac new car customers are entitled to a complimentary Gold Key inspection. The inspection is intended to be performed at the first regularly scheduled maintenance visit within the first 12 months or 12,000 miles.
Beginning with the 1987 model year vehicles it will be necessary for the Gold Key Inspection Check Sheet to be thoroughly reviewed and signed by the customer, attached to the repair order, and retained in the vehicle history file. For 1987, the customer will be required to sign both the repair order and the Gold Key Inspection Check Sheet.
The Gold Key Inspection Check Sheet is included at the back of each "Welcome to the World of Cadillac" brochure. Warranty claims should continue to be submitted as follows:
Failure Labor Labor Code Operation Hours ---- --------- ----- 99 Z7500 1.0
This procedural change will assure that the inspection is thoroughly reviewed and understood by each customer. It provides the opportunity to review each of the 72 evaluations, functional checks, and adjustments of the Gold Key Inspection to assure every Cadillac owner realizes the value of the Gold Key Inspection.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
