Subject: | Shifter Adjustment for Manual Driver Shift Control |
Models: | . |
When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.
The 2004 Cadillac SRX is equipped with driver shift control allowing the driver to manually shift the vehicle. If the shifter is not adjusted properly, it will allow the shifter to be placed in the manual mode from either neutral or the D4 position. It will only operate from the D position. Also the gate across to the tap up/down will be notchy.
To check for this operation, place shifter in D4 and then attempt to move shifter into the manual gate. After shifter is in the manual gate, if odometer does not read transmission gear, 1 thru 5, it is not in the manual mode and shifter will not respond. This condition can be repaired by a shifter adjustment as listed in SI document 896527. When the shifter is properly adjusted, you cannot get the shifter into the right hand gate from either D4 or N, only from D.
