Cabin Air Filter Location - kw interior HVAC

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

Some technicians may comment that they cannot locate the cabin air filter located in the HVAC assembly.

The owners manual pages 5-13,14 shows the correct location of the cabin filter. SI document 1308655 shows the proper removal procedure through the access cover. The easiest way to remove the filter is to open up the defroster grille by pushing on two tabs located on the front edge of the grill under the hood. Then remove the access cover by pushing on the two tabs located on either side of the cover and you will see the cabin filter. Filter replacement part # 25740404.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
