Subject: | Sulfur Odor from Exhaust 2004 SRX |
Models: | . |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom described in the PI.
Some early build 2004 SRXs with the NorthStar engine (LH2) may experience a sulfur type odor from the exhaust.
Inspect the date code on the catalytic converter. If the date code is prior to 3023F7 (the 302nd day of 2003), replace the catalytic converter.
Note: A sulfur type odor can also be caused by high sulfur content in fuel. If the catalytic converter date code is after 3023F7 or if the customer still has a concern after replacing the catalytic converter, advise the customer to try using a different brand of gasoline before replacing any other parts.
