The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Power steering fluid leak from the pressure line fitting at the gear.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Replace the o-ring with PN 88964534 Power Steering Gear O-ring kit. It is not necessary to replace the hose or the gear. Replacing these parts will not address the root cause of the issue, which is the o-ring itself. The current service O-ring kit which is the same kit used on the base STS is slightly larger in cross section than the production part and will correct this condition.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
