Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 154890 Size: SH
  1. Remove the coolant surge inlet hose (1) from the throttle body to surge tank (2) (coolant recovery tank).

    2. Object Number: 104607 Size: SH
  2. Remove the air cleaner cover (3) from the air cleaner.

    3. Object Number: 104644 Size: SH
  3. Remove the IAT sensor connector from the IAT sensor (1).
  4. Loosen the intake air duct clamp at the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor (2) end of the duct.
  5. Disconnect the intake air duct from the MAF sensor.
  6. Disengage the air cleaner cover latches.
  7. Remove the air cleaner element.
  8. Remove any loose debris that may be found laying in the base of the air cleaner.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the new air filter element.

    2. Important: The outlet of the air cleaner assembly and the MAF sensor inlet duct must be lined up when completely installed. Misalignment may cause incorrect air flow readings resulting in MIL illumination or a driveabilty concern.

  2. Pivot the air cleaner cover and duct assembly until the latches and cover engage in the air cleaner element base.
  3. Inspect to be sure that both latches latch.

    4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the intake air duct (1) over the mass air flow sensor. Ensure that the intake air duct is secure around the entire outer edge of the mass air flow sensor.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the clamp assembly to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

  5. Connect the IAT sensor connector (1) to the IAT sensor.

  6. Install the coolant surge inlet hose (1) from the throttle body to surge tank (2) (coolant recovery tank).

    7. Object Number: 104607 Size: SH

  7. Install the air cleaner cover (3).

    8. Tighten
    Tighten the clamp assembly to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
