Due to the limited tire-to-body clearance, the tire chain usage recommendations have been published in the owner's manual. When tire chains are to be used, SAE Class "S" tire chains are recommended. These tire chains may also be designated as 1100 Series, Type PL. These tire chains are specially designed to limit the "fly off" effect that occurs when the wheel rotates.

The manufacturers of the tire chains have a specific chain size for each tire size to ensure the proper fit when installed. Rubber adjuster should not be used to take up slack or clearance in chains which are loose due to the incorrect size. Always follow the tire chain manufacturers installation instructions.

The tire chain clearance is extremely limited. For this reason, tire chains should only be used when absolutely necessary.
