There is some noise in all power steering systems. One common noise is the hissing sound. The hissing sound is heard when the steering wheel is turned and the vehicle is not moving. The hissing soundis most evident when turning the wheel while the brakes are applied. There is no relationship between the noise and the steering and steering performance.

The intermediate shaft seal is loose at the column

1. Service and/or replace as needed.
2. Torque to proper specifications. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .
