Connect a scan tool into the data link connector (DLC).

Does the scan tool communicate with the electronic brake and traction control module (EBTCM)?

Go to No Communication with Electronic Brake Control Module/Electronic Brake and Traction Control Module in Antilock Brake System

1. Use the scan tool in order to select the ABS/TCS/ICCS Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC).
2. Inspect for the DTC C1241.

Does the scan tool displays DTC C1241 as current or history DTC?

Go to DTC C1241 Magnasteer Malfunction

Go to Step 3

Are there any other ABS/TCS/ICCS current or history DTCs displayed?

Go to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List in Antilock Brake System

Go to Step 4

1. Start the engine.
2. Turn the steering wheel to the right.
3. Turn the steering wheel to the left.

Does the steering wheel turn with little effort?

Go to Step 5

Go to Steering Effort Hard in One or Both Directions in Power Steering System

1. Drive the vehicle.
2. While driving the vehicle perform several turns and listen for any unusual sounds.

Was there any rattle or chuckle noise from the vehicle?
