🢒 Parking Brake Cable Replacement
Parking Brake Cable Replacement Front Cable
The park brake cable is serviced with the park brake pedal.
Parking Brake Cable Replacement Intermediate Cable
Removal Procedure
Raise the vehicle and support. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
Loosen the park brake cable adjuster.
Disconnect the intermediate parking brake cable (2) from the cable clip (1).
Disconnect intermediate cable housing from the cable retaining bracket.
Disconnect the intermediate cable (3) from the rear equalizer (1).
Disconnect the intermediate cable housing from the rear cable housing retaining bracket.
Remove the intermediate cable.
Installation Procedure
Route and install the intermediate parking cable into brake cable retaining brackets.
Connect the left (2) and right (5) rear parking brake cables to the intermediate cable (3), using equalizer (1).
Insert the intermediate cable (2) into the cable retaining bracket (1) and lock the cable into place.
Adjust the parking brake cable.
Parking Brake Cable Replacement Rear Cable
Removal Procedure
Raise the vehicle and suitably support. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to
Wheel Removal
in Tires and Wheels.
Back off the adjuster in the equalizer (1) to release cable tension.
Disconnect right (5) and left (2) rear parking brake cables from the rear equalizer (1).
Remove both brake cables from their brackets by depressing retaining tabs on the cable housings and pulling the cables out of the brackets.
Disconnect both parking brake cables (1) from the parking brake levers.
Remove right and left cable from caliper support brackets by depressing conduit fitting retaining tabs
Remove the parking brake rear cables.
Installation Procedure
Install both cables (5), (2) into their brackets by snapping them into place.
Connect both cables to the equalizer.
Install right and left cables (1) into the caliper support brackets by snapping into place.
Connect the parking brake cables to the parking brake levers.
Install the tire and wheel. Refer to
Wheel Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
Adjust parking brake cable. Refer to
Park Brake Cable Service/Adjustment
