Do the courtesy lamps turn on when opening a door with the interior lamp switch in the OFF position?

--

  1. Place the interior lamp switch in the OFF position.
  2. Backprobe the overhead console connector C1 with a DMM from battery positive voltage (B+) to cavity 7 (GRY/BLK).

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15 V

  1. Disconnect the instrument panel integration module (IPM) connector C1.
  2. Disconnect the overhead console connector C1.
  3. Connect a DMM from the IPM connector C1 cavity C5 (GRY/BLK) to the overhead console connector C1 cavity 7 (GRY/BLK).

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

5 ohms

  1. Place the interior lamp switch in the ON position.
  2. Backprobe the overhead console connector C1 with a DMM from battery positive voltage (B+) to cavity 8 (PNK/BLK).

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15 V

  1. Disconnect the instrument panel integration module (IPM) connector C1.
  2. Disconnect the overhead console connector C1.
  3. Connect a DMM from the IPM connector C1 cavity C6 (PNK/BLK) to the overhead console connector C1 cavity 8 (PNK/BLK).

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

5 ohms

Replace the instrument panel integration module (IPM). Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Is the IPM replacement complete?

Backprobe the overhead console connector C1 with a DMM from battery positive voltage (B+) to cavity 16 (BLK/WHT).

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15 V

Is the overhead console replacement complete?

Repair the open in CKT 1598 (GRY/BLK) between the IPM and the overhead console. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the circuit repair complete?

Repair the open in CKT 1597 (PNK/BLK) between the IPM and the overhead console. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the circuit repair complete?

Repair the open in CKT 851 (BLK/WHT) between the overhead console and S309. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the splice pack connector C310.
  2. Disconnect the overhead console connector C1.
  3. Connect a DMM from the overhead console connector C1 cavity 10 (DK BLU/WHT) to the splice pack connector C310.

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

5 ohms

Connect a DMM from the overhead console connector C1 cavity 17 (BLK) to ground.

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

5 ohms

  1. Disconnect the suspect reading switch connector.
  2. Connect a fused jumper between the reading switch connector cavity C (LT GRN) (LH) or (DK GRN) (RH) to ground.

Did the reading lamp turn on?

  1. Disconnect the splice pack connector C310.
  2. Connect a DMM from the reading switch connector cavity B (BLK) to the splice pack connector C310.

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

5 ohms

Replace the inoperative reading switch. Refer to Roof Rail Rear Courtesy Lamp Replacement .

Is the reading switch replacement complete?

  1. Disconnect the splice pack connector C310.
  2. Disconnect the reading lamp connector.
  3. Connect a DMM from the reading lamp connector DK BLU/WHT cavity to the splice pack connector C310.

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

5 ohms

Connect a DMM from the reading lamp connector LT GRN (LH) or DK GRN (RH) cavity to the reading switch connector cavity C.

Is the resistance less than the specified value?
