Speaker Replacement Instrument Panel
Removal Procedure
- Remove instrument panel
upper trim panel. Refer to
Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
- Remove electrical connector from speaker being serviced.
- Remove fasteners from speaker being serviced.
- Remove speaker from I/P top pad.
Installation Procedure
- Align speaker being replaced
to opening in instrument panel upper trim panel.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install fasteners.
Tighten
Tighten the speaker fasteners to 1.8 N·m (16 lb in).
- Install electrical connector.
- Install instrument panel upper trim panel. Refer to
Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement
in Instrument Panel,
Gauges and Console.
Speaker Replacement Front Door Lower
Removal Procedure
- Remove the door trim panel. Refer to
Door Trim Panel Replacement
in Doors.
- Remove the electrical connector.
- Note the orientation of the speaker electrical connector and remove
the four bolts.
- Remove the speaker.
Installation Procedure
- Install the speaker into the door with the electrical
connector oriented as noted during removal.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.

- Install the four
bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the four speaker bolts to 1.8 N·m (16 lb in).
Important: If the vehicle is equipped with door-mounted tweeter speakers, ensure
that the proper harness connector is connected to the proper speaker.
- Install the electrical connector.
- Install the door trim panel. Refer to
Door Trim Panel Replacement
in Doors.
Speaker Replacement Rear Door
Removal Procedure
- Remove the rear door trim
panel. Refer to
Door Trim Panel Replacement
in Doors.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the speaker.
- Remove the four rear speaker screws.
- Remove the rear speaker.
Installation Procedure
- Locate the rear speaker
to the rear door inner panel.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.

- Install the four screws.
Tighten
Tighten the speaker screws to 1.8 N·m (16 lb in).
- Connect the electrical connector.
- Install the rear door trim panel. Refer to
Door Trim Panel Replacement
in Doors.
Speaker Replacement Rear Shelf Panel
Removal Procedure
- Lower the rear compartment trim.
- Locate and release the four speaker grill tabs.
- Push the tabs up through the rear shelf panel.
- Disconnect electrical connector.
- From inside the vehicle, remove the rear speaker grill.
- Remove the four retainers.
- Lift the rear speaker out of the rear shelf panel.
- Remove the rear speaker.
Installation Procedure
- Connect the electrical connector.
- Install the rear speaker into the opening in the rear shelf panel.
- Install the four retainers.
- Align the rear speaker grill tabs to the slots
in the rear shelf panel.
- Push down on the rear speaker grill to engage the tabs.
- Install the rear compartment trim.
Speaker Replacement Front Door Upper
Removal Procedure
- Remove the door trim panel. Refer to
Door Trim Panel Replacement
in Doors.
- Disconnect the upper door speaker electrical connector from the
door harness.
- Remove the upper door speaker/grille assembly
by gently prying it from the molding.
Installation Procedure
- Install the upper door speaker/grille assembly
into the molding. Ensure that the speaker grille is properly seated in the
molding.
Important: If the upper and lower door speakers on the door have been disconnected,
ensure that the upper and lower speakers are reconnected to the proper door
harness connector.
- Connect the upper door speaker electrical connector to the door harness
connector.
- Install the door trim panel. Refer to
Door Trim Panel Replacement
in Doors.
