  1. Set the interior lamps switch to the AUTO position.
  2. Open and close the LH front door.

Are the front courtesy lamps on with the door open and off with the door closed (after a 25-second delay)?

--

  1. Connect a scan tool to the Data Link Connector (DLC).
  2. Ignition switch ON.
  3. Select the Instrument Panel Integration Module (IPM) system on the scan tool.
  4. Select the Data Display function, non HVAC Data.
  5. View the status of the key in ignition input.

Is the key in ignition input YES?

  1. Ignition switch OFF.
  2. Disconnect the Instrument Panel Integration Module (IPM) connector C1.
  3. Using a DMM, measure resistance from IPM connector C1 terminal D7 to ground.
  4. Wait 5 seconds and check reading.

Does the resistance vary between the specified values when the key is in the ignition and when the key is removed?

5 ohms or less (Key-in-ignition)

OL (Key not in ignition)

  1. Disconnect the ignition switch connectors C1 and C2.
  2. Connect a fused jumper from ignition switch connector C2 terminal D to connector C1 terminal E.
  3. Using a DMM, measure resistance from IPM connector C1 terminal D7 to ground.

Is resistance less than the specified value?

5 ohms

Go to Step 6

  1. Check the ignition switch for poor terminal contact at connectors C1 and C2.
  2. If OK, replace the ignition switch. Refer to Ignition and Start Switch Replacement .

Is replacement complete?

Using a DMM, check the resistance from the ignition switch connector C1 terminal E to ground.

Is the resistance more than the specified value?

5 ohms

Go to Step 8

Repair open in ground CKT 451 (BLK/WHT).

Is circuit repair complete?

--

Go to Audible Warnings System Check

Repair open in CKT 80 (LT GRN).

Is circuit repair complete?

--

  1. Check the IPM connector C1 for poor terminal contact.
  2. If OK, replace the IPM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement .
