Was the Audible Warnings System Check performed?

  1. Connect a scan tool to the Data Link Connector (DLC).
  2. Ignition switch ON.
  3. Select the SIR system on the scan tool.
  4. Select the Data List Inputs function.
  5. View the status of the seat belt switch input.

Is the input UNBUCKLED with the safety belt unbuckled and BUCKLED with the safety belt buckled?

  1. Ignition switch OFF.
  2. Disconnect the Sensing snd Diagnostic Module (SDM) connector.
  3. Using a DMM, measure the resistance the SDM harness connector terminal 1 to ground.

Does the resistance vary between the specified values with the safety belt unbuckled and buckled?

5 ohms (Unbuckled)

∞ (Buckled)

Go to Step 7

  1. Disconnect the LH front seat belt switch connector.
  2. Using a DMM, measure resistance from SDM connector terminal 1 to ground.

Is resistance less than specified value?

10 K ohms

Go to Step 5

Repair short to ground on CKT 238 (BLK/WHT).

Is circuit repair complete?

Replace the LH front seat belt switch. Refer to Rear Seat Belt Buckle Replacement .

Is replacement complete?

  1. Check Sensing andDiagnostic Module (SDM) connector for damage.
  2. If OK, perform the SIR Diagnostic System Check.
