- Connect a scan tool to the Data Link Connector (DLC).
- Ignition switch ON.
- Select the Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) system on the scan
tool.
- Select the Data List Inputs function.
- View the status of the seat belt switch input.
Is the input UNBUCKLED with the seat belt unbuckled and BUCKLED with
the seat belt buckled?

- Ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect the SDM connector.
- Using a DMM, measure the resistance from the SDM connector terminal
19 to ground.
Does the resistance vary between the specified values with the seat
belt unbuckled and buckled?

- Disconnect the LH front seat belt switch.
- Connect a fused jumper from the LH front seat belt switch connector
terminal A to B.
- Using a DMM, measure resistance from SDM connector terminal 19
to ground.
Is the resistance less than the specified value?

- Check the LH front seat belt switch connector for poor terminal
contact.
- If OK, replace the LH front seat belt switch.
