Was the Audible Warnings System Check performed?

  1. Connect a scan tool to the Data Link Connector (DLC).
  2. Ignition switch ON.
  3. Select the Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) system on the scan tool.
  4. Select the Data List Inputs function.
  5. View the status of the seat belt switch input.

Is the input UNBUCKLED with the seat belt unbuckled and BUCKLED with the seat belt buckled?

  1. Ignition switch OFF.
  2. Disconnect the SDM connector.
  3. Using a DMM, measure the resistance from the SDM connector terminal 19 to ground.

Does the resistance vary between the specified values with the seat belt unbuckled and buckled?

5 ohms (Unbuckled)

OL (Buckled)

Go to Step 9

  1. Disconnect the LH front seat belt switch.
  2. Connect a fused jumper from the LH front seat belt switch connector terminal A to B.
  3. Using a DMM, measure resistance from SDM connector terminal 19 to ground.

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

5 ohms

Go to Step 5

  1. Check the LH front seat belt switch connector for poor terminal contact.
  2. If OK, replace the LH front seat belt switch.

Refer to Rear Seat Belt Buckle Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Using a DMM, check resistance from the LH front seat belt switch connector terminal A to ground.

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

5 ohms

Go to Step 7

Repair open in ground CKT 550 (BLK).

Is the circuit repair complete?

--

Go to Audible Warnings System Check

Repair open in CKT 238 (BLK/WHT).

Is the circuit repair complete?

--

  1. Check the SDM connector for poor terminal contact.
  2. If OK, perform the SIR Diagnostic System Check.
