REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK
TEST DESCRIPTION
THE NUMBERS BELOW REFER TO THE STEP NUMBERS ON THE DIAGNOSTIC TABLE (SEE ATTACHMENTS 1-2):
1. THIS TEST DETERMINES IF COMMUNICATIONS CAN BE ESTABLISHED WITH THE RKE SYSTEM.
2. THIS TEST CHECKS FOR ANY RKE SYSTEM DTCS STORED IN THE MODULE'S MEMORY.
3. THIS TEST DETERMINES IF COMMUNICATIONS CAN BE ESTABLISHED WITH OTHER SYSTEMS CONNECTED TO THE SAME SERIAL DATA LINE.
4. THIS TEST CHECKS THE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE DOOR LOCK SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE DOOR LOCK SYSTEM MUST BE FUNCTIONING PROPERLY BEFORE DIAGNOSING THE RKE SYSTEM.
5. THIS TEST CHECKS THE MODULE'S POWER CIRCUIT. IF THE TEST LAMP DOES NOT LIGHT, THERE IS AN OPEN IN CKT 540.
6. THIS TEST CHECKS THE MODULE'S GROUND CIRCUIT. IF THE TEST LAMP DOES NOT LIGHT, THERE IS AN OPEN IN CKT 751.
7. THIS TEST CHECKS FOR AN OPEN IN THE SERIAL DATA LINE BETWEEN THE RECEIVER AND THE DLC TERMINAL, CKT 1807.
DTC DESCRIPTION TYPE --- ----------- ----
B1000 RFA INTERNAL FAULT (SELF TEST FAILED) RFA
B1007 EEPROM WRITE ERROR RFA
B3108 TRANSMITTER SYNCHRONIZATION FAILURE RFA
DTC B1000 RFA INTERNAL FAULT (SELF TEST FAILED)
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
THE RKE MODULE RUNS THIS INTERNAL SELF-TEST AT POWER UP. THIS TEST WILL ONLY BE RUN IF B1982 - BATTERY VOLTAGE HIGH OR B1983 - BATTERY VOLTAGE LOW ARE NOT CURRENT. THIS DTC WILL SET AS A CURRENT DTC ONLY.
CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
THE RKE MODULE WILL SET THIS DTC IF IT FAILS THE INTERNAL READ ONLY MEMORY (ROM) TO RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY (RAM) WRITE TEST.
ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
O STORES A DTC B1000 IN THE RKE CURRENT MEMORY. O NO DRIVER WARNING MESSAGE WILL BE DISPLAYED FOR THIS DTC.
CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE MIL/DTC
THE RKE MODULE WILL CLEAR THIS DTC AFTER A PASSED TEST MESSAGE IS RECEIVED AFTER THE POWER UP SELF-TEST.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
THIS DTC WILL STAY IN MEMORY UNTIL IT RECEIVES A PASSED TEST MESSAGE AFTER THE POWER UP SELF-TEST. IF THIS DTC WILL NOT CLEAR, REPLACE THE RFA MODULE.
TEST DESCRIPTION
THE NUMBERS BELOW REFER TO STEPS ON THE DIAGNOSTIC TABLE (SEE ATTACHMENT 3):
1. PERFORM THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK BEFORE DIAGNOSING DTC B1000.
2. THIS STEP IS TO ATTEMPT TO CLEAR THE DTC.
DTC B1007 EEPROM WRITE ERROR
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) MODULE PERFORMS INTERNAL TESTS ON THE EEPROM EACH TIME THE RKE MODULE PERFORMS A WRITE FUNCTION TO A MEMORY ADDRESS IN THE EEPROM. THE RKE MODULE READS BACK THE DATA THAT HAS BEEN WRITTEN AND COMPARES IT TO THE DATA. IF THE DATA DOES NOT MATCH AFTER THREE CONSECUTIVE WRITE AND VERIFY ATTEMPTS, THE RKE MODULE WILL INDICATE A WRITE MALFUNCTION IS CURRENT.
CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
O THE DATA READ BACK AFTER A WRITE DOES NOT MATCH THE DATA BEING WRITTEN THREE CONSECUTIVE TIMES. O THE RKE MODULE DETECTS AN INTERNAL WRITE MALFUNCTION. O THE CONDITION MUST OCCUR WHEN DATA IS BEING WRITTEN.
ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
O STORES A DTC B1007 IN THE RKE MEMORY. O NO DRIVER WARNING MESSAGE WILL BE DISPLAYED FOR THIS DTC. O THE RKE MODULE WILL STORE THE VALUE BEING WRITTEN IN ANOTHER MEMORY ADDRESS IN THE EEPROM.
CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
O THIS DTC REQUIRES A SUCCESSFUL WRITE IN ORDER TO CHANGE FROM CURRENT TO HISTORY. O THE RKE MODULE NO LONGER DETECTS AN INTERNAL WRITE MALFUNCTION. O A HISTORY DTC WILL CLEAR AFTER 50 CONSECUTIVE IGNITION CYCLES IF THE CONDITION FOR THE MALFUNCTION IS NO LONGER PRESENT. O USE THE ON-BOARDS CLEARING DTCS FEATURE. O USE A SCAN TOOL.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
SINCE THE EEPROM CANNOT BE REMOVED FROM THE RKE MODULE AND DTC B1007 IS AN INTERNAL RKE MALFUNCTION, THE RKE MODULE WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. REFER TO DIAGNOSTIC TABLE (SEE ATTACHMENT 4).
TEST DESCRIPTION
THE NUMBERS BELOW REFER TO THE STEP NUMBERS ON THE DIAGNOSTIC TABLE (SEE ATTACHMENT 4):
1. PERFORM THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK BEFORE CONTINUING WITH THE DIAGNOSIS OF THIS DTC.
2. CLEAR ALL DTCS AND REMOVE AND RESTORE BATTERY VOLTAGE TO CHECK THAT THE DTC DID NOT FALSELY SET.
4. CLEAR ALL DTCS AFTER THE REPAIR PROCEDURE IS COMPLETE.
DTC B3108 TRANSMITTER SYNCHRONIZATION FAILURE
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
THE RFA MODULE RUNS THIS TEST EVERY TIME THE MODULE PROCESSES A MESSAGE FROM THE TRANSMITTERS.
CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
THE MODULE WILL SET THIS DTC IF IT DOES NOT RECEIVE A TRANSMISSION FROM A TRANSMITTER.
ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
O STORES A DTC B3108 IN THE RFA CURRENT MEMORY. O NO DRIVER WARNING MESSAGE WILL BE DISPLAYED FOR THIS DTC.
CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE MIL/DTC
THE RFA MODULE WILL CLEAR THIS DTC AFTER A TRANSMISSION IS RECEIVED FROM A TRANSMITTER.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
THIS DTC WILL STAY IN MEMORY UNTIL IT RECEIVES A TRANSMISSION FROM THE RFA TRANSMITTERS. OBTAIN ALL TRANSMITTERS FROM THE CUSTOMER AND SYNCHRONIZE THE TRANSMITTERS.
TEST DESCRIPTION
THE NUMBERS BELOW REFER TO STEPS ON THE DIAGNOSTIC TABLE (SEE ATTACHMENT 5):
1. PERFORM THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK BEFORE DIAGNOSING DTC 3108.
3. THIS REPAIR IS TO CHECK FOR KNOWN GOOD TRANSMITTER SYNCHRONIZATION.
4. THIS REPAIR REQUIRES THE CUSTOMER'S ADDITIONAL TRANSMITTERS.
5. THIS STEP REQUIRES BATTERY REPLACEMENT WITH BATTERY TYPE 2032.
TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING
THE ORDER THAT THE TRANSMITTERS ARE PROGRAMMED IS IMPORTANT, THE FIRST TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMED WILL BE TRANSMITTER #1, AND THE SECOND TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMED WILL BE TRANSMITTER #2. YOU CAN PROGRAM UP TO FOUR TRANSMITTERS. ADDITIONAL TRANSMITTERS ARE AVAILABLE THAT DO NOT HAVE A NUMBER ON THEM. ANY PREVIOUSLY PROGRAMMED TRANSMITTERS WHICH WERE NOT INCLUDED IN THE PROGRAMMING WILL NO LONGER FUNCTION WITH THIS RECEIVER.
1. CONNECT A SCAN TOOL.
2. REQUEST RKE PROGRAMMING, THE DOOR LOCKS SHOULD CYCLE.
3. PRESS AND HOLD THE LOCK AND UNLOCK BUTTONS ON THE TRANSMITTER BEING PROGRAMMED, THE DOOR LOCKS WILL CYCLE. THIS SHOULD TAKE ABOUT 15 SECONDS.
4. CONTINUE ON TO THE NEXT TRANSMITTER AND REPEAT UNTIL ALL OF THE TRANSMITTERS ARE COMPLETE.
5. EXIT THE RKE PROGRAMMING AND DISCONNECT THE SCAN TOOL.
6. CYCLE THE INGITION AND TEST THE TRANSMITTERS FOR PROPER OPERATION.
