SQUAWK TYPE NOISE FROM FRONT SUSPENSION

SUBJECT: SQUAWK-TYPE NOISE FROM FRONT SUSPENSION WHEN DRIVING ON ROUGH OR BUMPY ROADS (REPLACE STABILIZER BAR INSULATORS)

MODELS: 1998 CADILLAC SEVILLE

CONDITION:

SOME CUSTOMERS MAY COMMENT ON A SQUAWK-TYPE NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT SUSPENSION WHEN DRIVING ON ROUGH OR BUMPY ROADS. THE CONDITION MAY BE MORE NOTICEABLE IN COLD WEATHER.

CAUSE:

THIS CONDITION MAY BE CAUSED BY EITHER:

- STABILIZER BAR INSULATORS RUBBING ON THE BAR

- STRUT LOWER SPRING INSULATOR RUBBING ON THE SPRING

CORRECTION:

REPLACE THE STABILIZER BAR INSULATORS WITH (P/N 25689665), SEVILLE STS OR (P/N 25689666), SEVILLE SLS. ROAD TEST THE VEHICLE TO VERIFY CORRECTION.

IF NOISE IS STILL PRESENT, DO THE FOLLOWING:

1. DETERMINE WHETHER THE NOISE IS FROM THE LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT.

2. REMOVE AND DISASSEMBLE THE STRUT MODULE.

3. TURN THE SPRING END-FOR-END, BEING CAREFUL TO PROPERLY SEAT THE SPRING INTO THE INSULATOR.

4. REASSEMBLE THE STRUT MODULE.

IMPORTANT:

DO NOT LUBRICATE ANY STRUT MODULE COMPONENTS.

5. INSTALL THE STRUT MODULE INTO THE VEHICLE.

6. ROAD TEST THE VEHICLE TO VERIFY CORRECTION.
