REVISION: 06/24/98 DIVS INVL 6 7

THIS BULLETIN IS BEING REVISED TO ADD PART INFORMATION, ARTWORK AND LABOR TIME. PLEASE DISCARD CORPORATE BULLETIN NUMBER 83-82-06 (SECTION 8B - CHASSIS ELECTRICAL). ______________________________________________________________________

SUBJECT: NO INTERIOR LIGHTS WHEN OPENING UNLOCKED DOOR IN LOW LIGHT CONDITIONS (REPLACE WITH NEW PZM)

MODELS: 1998 CADILLAC DEVILLE - BUILT PRIOR TO VIN BREAKPOINT 771492 1998 CADILLAC ELDORADO - BUILT PRIOR TO VIN BREAKPOINT 613048

CONDITION:

SOME CUSTOMERS MAY COMMENT THAT THE INTERIOR LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON WHEN OPENING A DOOR IN LOW LIGHT CONDITIONS, IF THE VEHICLE IS NOT LOCKED AND THE RKE TRANSMITTER OR KEY CYLINDER IS NOT ACTIVATED PRIOR TO OPENING THE DOOR.

CAUSE:

DURING ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WAKE-UP, THE BODY CONTROL MODULE (PZM) REQUIRES THE PHOTO CELL DATA (AMBIENT LIGHT) SOONER THAN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IPC) CAN PROVIDE IT.

CORRECTION:

REPLACE WITH THE NEW PZM (FIGURE 1, ITEM 6). THIS CORRECTS THE INTERIOR LIGHTING ISSUE BY CHANGING THE SOFTWARE ALGORITHM.
