Subject: | Rear Suspension Clunk Noise Over Bumps |
Models: | 1998 Cadillac Seville |
Some owners may experience a clunk or thump type noise coming from the rear of the vehicle when going over bumps at low vehicle speeds. i.e. railroad tracks or twist ditch
Insufficient staking of tabs on the rear suspension forward body mounts may allow the rear suspension support to move sufficiently to come in contact with the forward body mount brackets.
Visually inspect the rear suspension forward body mounts (1). The forward body mounts are secured in production by peening over the staking tabs (2).
Secure the mount by bending the tabs (2) completely outboard with a large pair of pliers.
