Subject: | Loss of Driver Seat, Mirror & Steering Column Memory Settings,
Programming Function and/or Memory Recall Functions Improperly (Program the
Dash Integration Module (DIM) and/or Synchronize the Memory Seat Module (MSM)
with the Tilt/Telescope Module (TTM)) |
Models: | 1998 -- 2000 Cadillac Seville |
Condition 1:
Some customers may comment that on vehicles equipped with the memory
package (RPO A45), the Driver 1 and/or the Driver 2 seat, mirror and steering
column memory settings and programming functions are not operating properly
and may experience one or more of the following:
- Loss of one or more of the memory settings for Driver 1 and/or
Driver 2.
- Memory recall with the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE), driver's door
trim panel push buttons or by placing the key in the vehicle's ignition is
not operating properly.
- The power switch controls for the seat, mirror and steering column
manual adjustments ARE operating properly.
Cause 1:
This condition may be due to the Dash Integration Module (DIM) not being
programmed to enable the seat, mirror and the steering column memory features
to function properly or to enable the programming function to operate properly.
Correction 1:
Important: Replacement of the memory seat module will not correct the condition
described above.
Perform the following procedure in order to program the Dash Integration
Module (DIM).
- With the vehicle in PARK (P), turn the ignition ON and verify
that the Data Information Center (DIC) displays a Driver 1 or a Driver 2 message.
- If the Driver 1 or Driver 2 message is not displayed, press the
INFO button located to the right of the instrument cluster one or more times
until FEATURE PROGRAMMING appears in the DIC.
- Press the ON/OFF button, Driver 1 or Driver 2 will be displayed.
Press the down arrow of the INFO button to verify that the following features
are available for programming:
• | Auto Exit Steering Wheel |
- If the above listed features are not available, use a scan tool
to program the Dash Integration Module (DIM) by performing the following procedure:
• | Select F0 -- "Diagnostics" |
• | Enter the appropriate vehicle information (model year, vehicle
type, service category) |
• | Select F1 -- "Body", enter the appropriate vehicle
information (carline, carline series) and select the DIM |
• | Select F2 -- "Special Functions" |
• | Select F1 -- "Set Options" |
• | Select F4/F5 -- "Driver Personalization". From
this menu, ensure that "Memory Seat/Personalization" has an asterisk
(*) next to it indicating that the function is enabled. |
- If the "Memory Seat/Personalization" function is already
enabled, continue with normal system diagnosis.
Condition 2:
Some customers may comment that on vehicles equipped with the memory
package (RPO A45), the Driver 1 and/or the Driver 2 seat, mirror and steering
column memory recall features are not operating properly and may experience
one or more of the following:
- The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) memory recall feature is not operating
properly.
- The Key In memory recall feature is not operating properly.
- The Auto Exit Seat memory feature is not operating properly.
- The driver's door panel push button memory recall feature IS operating
properly.
Cause 2:
This condition may be due to a loss of synchronization between the Memory
Seat Module (MSM) and the Tilt/Telescope Module (TTM). Replacing the MSM or
the TTM and/or disconnecting the battery are causes for the loss of synchronization.
Correction 2:
Important: Replacement of the memory seat module will not correct the condition
described above.
Perform the following procedure in order to synchronize the Memory Seat
Module (MSM) with the Tilt/Telescope Module (TTM).
- With the vehicle in PARK (P), turn the ignition ON and verify
that the Data Information Center (DIC) displays a Driver 1 or a Driver 2 message.
- Press the INFO button located to the right of the instrument cluster
one of more times until FEATURE PROGRAMMING appears in the DIC.
- Press the ON/OFF button, Driver 1 Driver 2 will be displayed.
Press the down arrow of the INFO button to verify that the following features
are available for programming and that ON and/or OFF is displayed next to
each feature on the DIC:
• | Auto Exit Steering Wheel |
- If ON and OFF is not displayed on the DIC next to the above listed
features, use a scan tool to synchronize the MSM with the TTM by performing
the following procedure:
• | Select F0 -- "Diagnostics" |
• | Enter the appropriate vehicle information (model year, vehicle
type, service category) |
• | Select F1 -- "Body", enter the appropriate vehicle
information (carline, carline series) and select the MSM or the TTM |
• | Select F2 -- "Special functions" |
• | Select F1 -- "Synchronize MSM and TTM" |
- Ensure "Module synchronization is complete" is displayed.
