Object Number: 261813 Size: LF
Power Door Systems Components
Cell 55: LH Front Power Window Switch
Handling ESD Sensitive Parts Notice

Circuit Description

The LH Front Power Window Switch receives an active high input from the mirror left-up switch when the switch is actuated. The LH Front Power Window Switch recognizes the input and sends a message on the Simple Bus Interface (SBI) to the LH Front Door Module (LFDM) or RH Front Door Module (RFDM) depending on the position of the mirror select switch. This message indicates that the mirror switch has been moved to the left-up position. The LFDM or RFDM then moves the horizontal mirror motor LEFT and the vertical mirror motor UP.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

    •  When the mirror left-up switch is active for 30 seconds continuously, the switch will be considered shorted and the DTC will set.
    • DTC B1698 will set only if DTC B1982 DDM or DTC B1983 DDM is not current.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

    • The LFDM and RFDM will no longer respond to mirror left-up switch inputs. Both mirrors will not move in the affected directions.
    • The LFDM and RFDM will continue to respond to valid inputs from the other mirror switches.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The history DTC clears after 50 ignition cycles.
    • Use the On-Boards clearing DTCs feature.
    • Use a scan tool.

Diagnostic Aids

The contacts of the mirror switch located on the LH Front Power Window Switch are in each corner of the switch. These contacts are left-up, left-down, right-up, and right-down. If the mirror switch is operated in a diagonal direction, the switch will hit only one of the contacts and the mirror will move in both a horizontal and vertical direction. If the mirror switch is operated in direct up, down, left, or right direction, the switch will hit two contacts and the mirror will move only in the direction that is common to the two contacts. With this DTC set, any input from the left-up contact will be ignored. If the mirror switch is operated in a direct up or left direction, the mirror will actually move right and up or left and down, respectively. This is because the module is only responding to one of the contacts and ignoring the other.
