Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 602311  Size: MH
  1. Remove the vacuum connections from the AIR check valve (2).
  2. Remove the AIR Vacuum Control Solenoid (3) from the rear AIR check valve bracket.
  3. Loosen and lower the pinch clamp holding the AIR exhaust hose to the rear AIR check valve.

  5. Remove the nuts retaining the AIR exhaust hose (3) to the AIR check valve bracket (4).
  6. Remove the AIR exhaust hose from the AIR check valve (1).
  7. Remove the nuts retaining the AIR check valve to exhaust manifold pipe (5) to the exhaust manifold.
  8. Remove the bolts retaining the AIR check valve bracket to the engine.
  9. Remove the AIR check valve (1) and exhaust manifold pipe (5).
  10. Remove the exhaust manifold pipe (5) from the AIR check valve (1).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 602315  Size: MH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the exhaust manifold pipe (5) to the rear AIR check valve (1).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  3. Install the exhaust manifold pipe, gasket, and retaining nuts to the exhaust manifold.
  4. Install the bolts retaining the AIR check valve bracket (4) to the engine.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts and the bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

    Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust manifold pipe nuts to 9 N·m(80 lb in).

  6. Install the AIR exhaust hose (2) and clamp to the AIR check valve (1).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts retaining the AIR exhaust hose to the AIR bracket to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  8. Install the AIR Vacuum Control Solenoid (3) to the AIR check valve bracket.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts and the bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  10. Reconnect the AIR vacuum connections.
