Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 602321  Size: SH
  1. Remove the vacuum connections from the AIR check valve.
  2. Loosen and lower the pinch clamp holding the AIR exhaust hose to the front AIR check valve.

  3. Object Number: 602323  Size: SH
  4. Remove the nuts and the bolt (3) retaining the AIR check valve bracket to the engine.
  5. Remove the nuts retaining the AIR check valve (2) to exhaust manifold pipe to the exhaust manifold (6).
  6. Remove the exhaust manifold pipe (1) from the AIR check valve (2).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 602323  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the exhaust manifold pipe (1) to the front AIR check valve (2).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  3. Install the exhaust manifold pipe (1), gasket, and retaining nuts (5) to the exhaust manifold (6).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 9 N·m(80 lb in).

  5. Install the bolt and nuts retaining the AIR check valve bracket to the engine.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts and the bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  7. Install the AIR exhaust hose and clamp assembly to the AIR check valve.
  8. Reconnect the AIR vacuum connections.
