Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement in Body Front End.

  3. Object Number: 597382  Size: SH

    Important: Engine oil cooler quick connect fittings must be replaced whenever they are removed from the engine oil filter adapter.

  4. Remove the engine oil cooler quick connect fittings from the engine oil filter adapter, with the oil lines still attached.
  5. Remove the dust cover from the quick connect joint.

  7. Remove the internal spring clips from the engine oil cooler fittings.

  9. Remove the engine oil cooler lines from the cooler fittings.

  10. Object Number: 62328  Size: SH
  11. Remove the oil filter.

  12. Object Number: 62336  Size: SH
  13. Remove the two adapter mounting bolts and partially remove the adapter.
  14. Disconnect the oil pressure switch.
  15. Remove the adapter and discard the O-rings.
  16. Remove the oil pressure switch.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the new O-rings. Petrolatum may be used to retain the O-rings in the adapter.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the oil pressure switch to the adapter.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the oil pressure switch to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  5. Position the adapter near the crankcase and connect the oil pressure switch.
  6. Install the two bolts attaching the oil filter adapter to the engine block.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

    Important: Fill the oil filter with the engine oil.

  8. Install the oil filter.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the oil filter to 32 N·m (24 lb ft).

    Important: Engine oil cooler quick connect fittings must be replaced whenever they are removed from the engine oil filter adapter.

  10. Install the engine oil cooler quick connect fittings to the engine oil filter adapter.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the quick connect fittings to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  12. Push the engine oil cooler lines fully into the oil cooler quick connect fittings, until a "click" is heard.
  13. Tug gently on the cooler lines to ensure proper retention.
  14. Slide the dust cover over the quick connect joint.
  15. Install the air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement in Body Front End.
  16. Lower the vehicle.
  17. Adjust the oil level to the full mark.
