Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the cooling fans. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Motor Replacement .
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  3. Object Number: 597382  Size: SH

    Important: Engine oil cooler quick connect fittings must be replaced whenever they are removed from the engine oil filter adapter.

  4. Remove the engine oil cooler quick connect fittings from the engine oil filter adapter, with the oil lines still attached.
  5. Remove the upper and lower engine oil cooler lines from the vehicle.
  6. Slide the plastic cap off the quick connect joint.

  8. Remove the internal spring clips from the engine oil cooler fittings.

  9. Object Number: 289546  Size: SH
  10. Remove the engine oil cooler lines from the cooler fittings.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 518550  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Important: Engine oil cooler quick connect fittings must be replaced whenever they are removed from the engine oil filter adapter.

  1. Install the engine oil cooler quick connect fittings to the engine oil filter adapter.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the quick connect fittings to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  3. Push the engine oil cooler lines fully into the new engine oil cooler quick connect fittings, until a "click" is heard.
  4. Tug gently on the cooler lines to ensure proper retention.
  5. Slide the plastic cap over the quick connect joint.
  6. Route the radiator side of the engine oil cooler lines in front of the radiator.
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Install the cooling fans. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Motor Replacement .
