Removal Procedure
- Remove the cooling fans. Refer to
Engine Coolant Fan Motor Replacement
.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
Important: Engine oil cooler quick connect fittings must be replaced whenever they
are removed from the engine oil filter adapter.
- Remove the engine oil cooler quick connect fittings from the engine
oil filter adapter, with the oil lines still attached.
- Remove the upper and lower engine oil cooler lines from the vehicle.
- Slide the plastic cap off the quick connect joint.
- Remove the internal spring
clips from the engine oil cooler fittings.
- Remove the engine oil
cooler lines from the cooler fittings.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Important: Engine oil cooler quick connect fittings must be replaced whenever they
are removed from the engine oil filter adapter.
- Install the engine oil cooler quick connect fittings to the engine oil
filter adapter.
Tighten
Tighten the quick connect fittings to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).
- Push the engine oil cooler
lines fully into the new engine oil cooler quick connect fittings, until a
"click" is heard.
- Tug gently on the cooler lines to ensure proper retention.
- Slide the plastic cap over the quick connect joint.
- Route the radiator side of the engine oil cooler lines in front
of the radiator.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the cooling fans. Refer to
