Accelerator Control Cable Replacement Domestic
Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the accelerator control cable (2) from the accelerator controls
bracket (3).
- Disconnect the accelerator control cable (3) from the throttle body
lever (2).
- Disconnect the accelerator control cable (2) at the retainer (1) on
the dash panel (bulkhead).
- Squeeze the accelerator
control cable (1) cover tangs and push the accelerator control cable through
dash panel (bulkhead).
- Remove the left closeout insulator panel. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side
in
Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
- Disconnect the accelerator
control cable (1) at the accelerator controls pedal (3).
- Remove the accelerator control cable.
Installation Procedure
Notice: In order to prevent possible interference and damage, flexible components
(hoses, wires, conduits, etc.) must not be routed within 50 mm (2 in)
of moving parts, unless the routing is positively controlled.
- Install the accelerator control cable (3) at the throttle body lever
(2).
Important: Accelerator control cable must be routed through groove in throttle
body lever and seated securely.
- Install the accelerator control cable (3) at the accelerator controls
cable bracket (1).
- Route the accelerator control cable (2) over the brake master cylinder
and through the dash.
- Secure the accelerator control cable (2) at the retainer (1) on
the dash (bulkhead).
Important: Check for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating
accelerator controls pedal. Also check for poor carpet fit under the accelerator
controls pedal. Throttle should operate freely without bind between full
closed and wide open throttle.
- Install the accelerator control cable (1) at accelerator controls pedal
(3).
- Remove the left closeout insulator panel. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side
in
Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
Accelerator Control Cable Replacement Export
Removal Procedure
- Remove the accelerator controls cable (3) from the throttle body
bracket (1).
- Remove the accelerator controls cable (3) from the throttle
body lever (2).
- Remove the accelerator controls cable (2) from the bulkhead retainer (1).
- Remove the accelerator
controls cable (1) from the engine compartment.
- Remove the right closeout/insulator
panel replacement. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side
in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
- Remove the accelerator controls cable (1) from the accelerator
controls pedal (3).
- Remove the accelerator controls cable to bulkhead seal.
- Remove the accelerator controls cable (1) from the bulkhead
and from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
Notice: In order to prevent possible interference and damage, flexible components

- Install the accelerator controls cable (1) to the vehicle and
to the bulkhead.
- Install the accelerator controls cable to bulkhead seal.
- Install the accelerator controls cable (1) to the accelerator
controls pedal assembly (3).
- Install the right closeout/insulator panel replacement. Refer
to
Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side
in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
- Route the accelerator controls cable (2) through the engine compartment.
- Install the accelerator controls cable (2) to the bulkhead
retainer (1).
Important: The accelerator controls cable must be routed through groove in throttle
body lever and seated securely.
- Install the accelerator controls cable (3) to the throttle body
lever (2).
- Install the accelerator controls cable (3) to the throttle
body bracket (1).
Important: Inspect for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating
the accelerator controls pedal. Inspect for poor carpet fit under the accelerator
controls pedal. Throttle should operate freely without binding between full
closed and wide open throttle.
- Inspect the accelerator control cable for proper operation.
