Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats.
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable from the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .

  3. Object Number: 154778  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the positive battery cable (1) from the battery.

  5. Object Number: 288808  Size: SH
  6. Remove the battery vent tube (1) from the battery.

  7. Object Number: 288839  Size: SH
  8. Remove the battery retainer bolt and battery retainer.
  9. Remove the battery from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 288839  Size: SH
  1. Install the battery into the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the retainer and bolt.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the battery retainer bolt to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

    Important: Ensure the vent tube (1) is properly routed through the floor pan grommet.

  5. Install the battery vent tube (1) to the battery.

  6. Object Number: 154778  Size: SH
  7. Connect the positive battery cable (1) to the battery.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the battery cable bolt to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  9. Connect the battery negative cable to the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  10. Install the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats.
