Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tires and wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Lower the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement in Exhaust.
  4. Remove the coil springs. Refer to Coil Spring Replacement .
  5. Remove the rear disc brake rotors. Refer to Brake Rotor Replacement in Disc Brakes.

  7. Disconnect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector from each wheel.
  8. Remove the park brake cables. Refer to Park Brake Cable Replacement in Park Brakes.

  9. Object Number: 293366  Size: SH
  10. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the support assembly.
  11. Remove the electronic level control electrical connector and vent hose.

  12. Object Number: 577019  Size: SH
  13. Disconnect the electronic level control link (1) from the left and right control arms (2).
  14. Remove the electronic level control vent tube from the electronic level control compressor.
  15. Use a transmission jack in order to secure the rear suspension support assembly to the body.

  17. Remove three bolts per side in order to release the support brackets from the body of the vehicle.

  19. Remove the front two and rear two bolts in order to release the support assembly from the body.
  20. With the aid of an assistant, lower the transmission jack in order to remove the support assembly from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. With the aid of an assistant, use the transmission jack in order to raise the rear support into position.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the two rear and two front retaining bolts in order to retain the rear support to the body.
  4. Tighten

        • Tighten the front support assembly bolts to 191 N·m (141 lb ft).
        • Tighten the rear support assembly bolts 191 N·m (141 lb ft).

  5. Install the brackets at the forward support assembly mounts using the retaining bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the retainering bolts to 86 N·m (63 lb ft).

  7. Connect the electronic level control air tube to the electronic level control compressor.
  8. Connect the electronic level control electrical connector and vent tube.
  9. Connect the electrical connectors to the support assembly.

  10. Object Number: 577019  Size: SH
  11. Connect the electronic level control links (1) to both of the control arms (2).
  12. Install the park brake cables to the vehicle. Refer to Park Brake Cable Replacement in Park Brake
  13. Install the disc brake rotors to the vehicle. Refer to Brake Rotor Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  14. Install the rear coil springs. Refer to Coil Spring Replacement .
  15. Install the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement in Exhaust.
  16. Install the tires and wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
