Removal Procedure

    Important: The booster can be removed from the vehicle without removing or disconnecting the master cylinder. However, if both the booster and the master cylinder are to be removed, remove the master cylinder first; refer to Master Cylinder.

  1. Remove the vacuum booster check valve from the vacuum booster .

  2. Object Number: 288094  Size: SH
  3. Remove the master cylinder attaching nuts.
  4. Remove the master cylinder from the booster. Move the master cylinder forward just enough to clear the studs on the booster. This will flex the brake pipes slightly. It's important to be careful not to bend or distort the pipes.

  5. Object Number: 287894  Size: SH
  6. Remove the booster attaching nuts (1,2,3,) from the brake pedal assembly.

  7. Object Number: 287901  Size: SH
  8. Remove the booster pushrod from the brake pedal. Tilt the entire booster slightly to work pushrod off the pedal clevis pin (2) without putting undue side pressure on the pushrod.

  9. Object Number: 106322  Size: SH
  10. Remove the booster from the vehicle.
  11. Remove the gasket.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the gasket to booster.

  2. Object Number: 106322  Size: SH
  3. Install the booster to the vehicle.

  4. Object Number: 287901  Size: SH
  5. Install the booster pushrod to the brake pedal. Tilt the entire booster slightly to work pushrod on the pedal without putting undue side pressure on the pushrod install the retaining pin. (2).

  6. Object Number: 287894  Size: SH
  7. Install the booster attaching nuts (1,2,3) to the booster studs.

  8. Object Number: 288094  Size: SH
  9. Install the master cylinder onto the booster.
  10. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  11. Install the master cylinder attaching nuts.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  13. Install the booster vacuum hose to the vacuum check valve.
