Parking Brake Lever Pedal Assembly Replacement LHD

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle

  2. Object Number: 492729  Size: SH
  3. Ensure the park brake pedal is in the full returned position.
  4. Pull down on the front cable in relieve tension on the cable.
  5. Remove the cable from the cable connector (1).

  7. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
  8. Remove left sound insulator panel to access the lever assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement - Left Side
  9. Pull back the carpet to expose the parking brake cable and lever assembly.
  10. Remove the grommet from the floor pan.

  12. Remove the parking brake assembly attaching nuts (1,2).
  13. Remove the parking brake pedal assembly from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 107329  Size: SH
  1. Install the parking brake assembly to the mounting studs.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the lever attaching nuts (1,2).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the park brake attaching nut to 24 (18 lb ft ).

  5. Install the cable and grommet into the floor pan.

  7. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
  8. Reconnect the front cable (3) to the rear cable (2).
  9. Lower the vehicle.

  11. If installing a new parking brake pedal assembly, remove the cable tensioner release pin to adjust the cable tension.
  12. Reposition the carpet.
  13. Install the left sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement - Left Side

Parking Brake Lever Pedal Assembly Replacement RHD

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 296112  Size: SH
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  2. Remove the floor console. Refer to Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  3. Remove the right and left sound insulators. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side and Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  4. Remove the IP Cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  5. Remove the radio and heater controls.
  6. Remove the right knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  7. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.
  8. Remove the IP compartment from the instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  9. Remove the IP retainer from the carrier. Refer to Instrument Panel Retainer Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  10. Remove the foot base.
  11. Disconnect the parking brake cable from the parking brake lever.
  12. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the parking brake lever.
  13. Remove the parking brake lever fasteners.
  14. Remove the parking brake lever.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the parking brake lever into the vehicle.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the parking brake lever fasteners to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  3. Connect the electrical connectors to the parking brake lever.
  4. Connect the parking brake cable to the parking brake lever.
  5. Install the foot base. Refer to
  6. Install the IP retainer to the carrier. Refer to Instrument Panel Retainer Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  7. Install the IP compartment to the instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  8. Install the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.
  9. Install the right knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

  13. Install the floor console. Refer to Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  14. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
