The tilt/telescoping steering column control system consists of an steering column control module with Class 2 communication, the steering column power assembly with positioning motors that contain position sensors, and a steering column control switch. The positioning motors are reversible DC motors for steering column position adjustment. One motor is for tilt (up/down) adjustment. The other motor is for telescope (in/out) adjustment. Each motor contains a position sensor that is a 10kohms potentiometer. The sensors provide signals to the steering column control module to indicate the steering column tilt (up/down) position and telescope (in/out) position. When the module receives an input from the steering column control switch or a message via Class 2, the module moves the steering column to the requested position.
