  1. Disconnect the blower motor connector.
  2. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
  3. Turn the blower speed to HIGH.
  4. Measure the voltage between blower motor connector terminal A and ground.

Does the voltage equal the specified value?

12 V

Go to Step 2

Measure the voltage between blower control module output connector terminal A and terminal B.

Does the voltage equal the specified value?

12 V

Go to Step 3

  1. Inspect the blower motor connector terminals for proper contact.
  2. If the terminal contact is OK, replace the blower motor. Refer to Blower Motor and Fan Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.

Is the repair complete?

System OK

Measure the voltage between blower control module input connector terminal B and ground.

Does the voltage equal the specified value?

12 V

Go to Step 10

Go to Step 8

Measure the voltage between blower control module input connector terminal C and ground.

Does the voltage equal the specified value?

5 V

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 12

Measure the voltage at the HVAC programmer connector for the HVAC blower control output.

Does the voltage equal the specified value?

5 V

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 11

Replace the instrument panel integration module. Refer to Instrument Panel Module Replacement in Body Control Systems.

Is the repair complete?

System OK

Inspect positive battery feed to blower control module for open or a blown fuse for cell 10, blower motor fuse.

Is the repair complete?

--

System OK

If fuse blows after replacement

Go to Step 10

Check ground supply to blower control module for open.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the blower control module. Refer to Blower Motor Control Module Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.

Inspect the blower speed input circuit from the HVAC control assembly for open.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Turn the ignition off.
  2. Disconnect the blower control module input connector.
  3. Measure for short on the blower control module connector from pin C to pin A.

Is a short present?

--

Go to Step 13

Go to Step 10

Inspect the blower speed output circuit from the HVAC control assembly to the blower control module for short to ground.

Is the repair complete?

--

System OK
