Did you perform Diagnostic System Check - Cellular Communication ?

  1. Dock the cellular telephone handset.
  2. Turn ON the ignition.
  3. Turn on the radio and set the radio volume.
  4. Attempt to place a call in hands-free mode.
  5. Attempt to place a call using the docked handset.

Does the system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect one of the following:
  3. • The cellular telephone microphone (w/o UE1).
    • The inside rearview mirror (w/UE1).
  4. Test the cellular microphone signal circuit for a short to battery positive voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Test the cellular microphone signal circuit for an open or a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the cellular microphone drain wire for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of one of the following:

    • The cellular telephone microphone (w/o UE1).
    • The inside rearview mirror (w/UE1).

Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace one of the following:

    • The cellular telephone microphone (w/o UE1). Refer to Hands-Free Microphone Replacement .
    • The inside rearview mirror (w/UE1). Refer to Inside Rearview Mirror Replacement in Stationary Windows.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the cellular telephone module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the cellular telephone module. Refer to Cellular Telephone Module Replacement .
