Perform the following procedures after installing the UV8 cellular telephone kit, or after replacing the cellular telephone handset, cellular telephone module or dash integration module (DIM).
Verify that the dash integration module (DIM) is set up to recognize the UV8 cellular telephone option. This procedure is necessary to ensure that the vehicle steering wheel controls perform cellular telephone functions in place of the HVAC functions. The procedure is also necessary to enable the driver information center cellular telephone messages. (For complete instructions for DIM programming and setup, refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.)
It is necessary to turn on the hands-free auto mute feature. If this feature is OFF and you are using the handset connected to the vehicle but undocked, the system automatically ends the call when you dock the handset. The hands-free auto mute feature, turned ON, ensures that when you dock the handset while in a call, you will be switched to hands-free operation automatically.
To turn on this feature, program the handset for HF AUTO MUTE ON, as follows:
Verify that the handset is programmed for cellular service as required by the owner's cellular service provider.
