Did you review the ultrasonic rear parking assist operation and perform the necessary inspections?

  1. Drive the vehicle forward at least 24 km/hr (15 mph).
  2. Stop the vehicle.
  3. Turn OFF the ignition.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, then shift into REVERSE within five seconds.
  5. Observe the information center telltale assembly. The three indicators (one red, two yellow) should flash simultaneously for 1.5 seconds (bulb check), then turn off.
  6. Continue to observe the telltale assembly. All indicators should be off.

Does the system operate normally ?

  1. Turn ON the ignition.
  2. Place the gear shifter in REVERSE, holding the vehicle stopped with the brake.
  3. Observe the backup lamps.

Do the backup lamps turn on in reverse?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the rear object sensor control module connector.
  3. Turn ON the ignition.
  4. Test the ignition positive voltage circuit of the rear object sensor control module for an open or a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the ground circuit of the rear object sensor control module for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Place the gear shifter in REVERSE, holding the vehicle stopped with the brake.
  2. Test the backup lamp supply voltage circuit for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
