Accessing the Diagnosis Menu Screen
To enter the navigation self-diagnostic mode, perform the following
procedure:
- Turn ON the ignition, with the engine off.
- Quickly repeat the following sequence three times:
• | Touch the left upper corner of the screen of the navigation display
head (NDH). |
• | Touch the right upper corner of the screen of the NDH. |
- The navigation display head (NDH) beeps once and the navigation
self-diagnostic main menu, titled DIAGNOSIS MENU, appears.
Diagnosis Menu
The Diagnosis Menu screen has seven buttons. The top two buttons, LINE/DEALER
and INSPECTION, have no function; they serve as functional titles for the
buttons below them.

Each of the five buttons, when pressed, leads to a menu or set of submenus
which may be used to perform various navigation self-test procedures.
System Check
Pressing the SYSTEM button on the Diagnosis Menu screen initiates a
self-diagnostic test of the navigation system. Once this self-running test
is complete, the SYSTEM CHECK screen appears. If everything is normal,
this screen displays:
Press the DIAG MENU button on this screen to return to the Diagnosis
Menu screen.
Diagnostic Memory Display Menu
Pressing the DIAG MEMO button on the Diagnosis Menu screen leads to
a screen titled DIAG MEMORY DISP. This screen has four buttons, and each button,
when pressed, leads to a submenu. The four buttons are:
These four menus are used to display system internal diagnostic codes.
Each internal code that may be displayed on one of these submenus has an equivalent
scan tool diagnostic trouble code (DTC). For that reason, the specific
internal diagnostic codes, as read through the Diag Memory Display screen,
will not be listed in this section.
Press the DIAG MENU button on this screen to return to the Diagnosis
Menu screen.
Vehicle Signal Menu
Pressing the VEHICLE SIG button on the Diagnosis Menu screen leads to
a screen titled VEHICLE SIG. This screen displays several system parameters,
as follows:
• | Gyro voltage (GYRO VLT) |
• | Offset (OFFSET). Displays the center voltage when the gyro stops. |
• | Speed signal (SPEED), displayed in km/h. |
• | Reverse signal (REVERSE). A zero (0) in this field means no reverse
signal is present. A one (1) in this field means that the reverse signal is
present. |
• | Gyro (GYRO). Displays the relative bearing. This value changes
when the vehicle turns. |
• | Distance (DISTANCE). Displays the tire coefficient that is used
during distance correction. |
Press the DIAG MENU button on this screen to return to the Diagnosis
Menu screen.
Display Inspection Menu
Pressing the DISPLAY button on the Diagnosis Menu screen leads to a
screen titled DISP INSP MENU. This screen has five buttons, and each button,
when pressed, leads to a submenu. The five buttons are:
These five submenus may be used to test the navigation display head
(NDH) hard keys (on each side of the screen), the complete touch screen,
and the screen colors, brightness and contrast. The submenus are described
below.
HARD SW
Pressing the HARD SW button on the Display Inspection Menu screen leads
to a screen titled HARD SWITCH. This screen shows the name of each hard key
on the navigation display head (NDH). When the pressing of the hard key
is recognized, the color of the switch on the screen changes to yellow-green.
TOUCH SW
Pressing the TOUCH SW button on the Display Inspection Menu screen leads
to a screen titled TOUCH SWITCH (V). This screen has a grid of numbered vertical
lines. When the touching of the line on the screen is recognized, the line
disappears. Pressing the NEXT button on this screen leads to a screen titled
TOUCH SWITCH (H). This screen has a grid of numbered horizontal lines.
When the touching of the line on the screen is recognized, the line disappears.
PRG VER
Provides the navigation display head (NDH) software version.
BRIGHT
Pressing the BRIGHT button on the Display Inspection Menu screen leads
to a screen titled BRI/CON. This screen is used to adjust the screen brightness
and contrast.
COLOR BAR
Pressing the COLOR BAR button on the Display Inspection Menu screen
leads to a screen titled DISP COLOR BAR. This screen may be used to test the
display color to make sure that the color band and the color name above
the band match.
Return to Display Inspection Menu
For each of the inspection submenu screens described above, press the
DISP MENU button to return to the Display Inspection Menu screen.
Navigation Module Diagnostic Menu
Pressing the NAVI button on the Diagnosis Menu screen leads to a screen
titled NAVI DIAG MENU. This screen has three buttons and each button, when
pressed, leads to a submenu. The three buttons are:
These three submenus may be used to test the navigation module (NAV)
color signals and GPS information. These submenus are described below.
PROGRAM
Pressing the PROGRAM button on the NAVI DIAG MENU screen leads to a
screen titled PROGRAM VER. This screen displays software version information
and the hardware part number for the navigation module (NAV). Included on
this screen is a VERS UP button. This button may be used to update the navigation
module software. Do not proceed to the PROG VERS UP screen unless you have
the program disk available and the necessary instructions to perform this
update.
RGB INFO
Pressing the RGB INFO button on the NAVI DIAG MENU screen leads to a
screen titled RGB CHECK. This screen may be used to test the color signals
sent from the navigation module (NAV) to the navigation display head (NDH).
Five color bars are shown. They are black (BK), red (R), green (G), blue
(B) and white (W).
GPS INFO
Pressing the GPS INFO button on the NAVI DIAG MENU screen leads to a
screen titled GPS INFO. This screen displays the status of the navigation
GPS system. This screen provides the following information:
• | SATELLITE. Shows the number of satellites received. Normal system
operation has three or more satellites being received. |
• | ANTENNA. With normal operation, this field displays OK. If the
GPS antenna is open, this field displays NG. |
Included on the GPS INFO screen is the SAT button. Pressing this button
leads to the SATELLITE INFO screen. This screen provides specific parameters
(latitude, longitude and condition) for each satellite received. If the
condition (CND) field is blank for a particular satellite, the satellite
is not being received.
Return to Navigation Module Diagnostic Menu
For each of the submenu screens described above, press the NAVI MENU
button to return to the NAVI DIAG MENU screen.
