Water Leaks and Wind Noise

Problem

Action

DEFINITION: Water leaks from the sunroof or the sunroof emits windnoise.

The glass panel is not aligned or does not properly fit to the roof.

    • Align the glass panel height in the sunroof opening.
    • Center the glass panel in the sunroof opening.

The glass panel does not close fully.

    • Adjust the glass panel to the sunroof opening.
    • Adjust the track and the motor synchronization.

The drain tubes are blocked or frozen.

    • Blow out the drain tubes.
    • Replace the drain tubes as necessary.

The drain tubes are improperly connected.

Reconnect or replace the tubes as necessary.

The weather-strip is damaged.

Replace the glass panel.

Sluggish Glass Panel Operation

Problem

Action

DEFINITION: The glass panel operates sluggishly.

The glass panel is not aligned or does not properly fit to the roof.

    • Align the glass panel height in the sunroof opening.
    • Center the glass panel in the sunroof opening.

Obstructions or foreign objects exist in the tracks or the troughs.

Clear the obstructions or the foreign objects as necessary.

The rear guide pin is not properly engaged in the cam slot of the lifter arm.

Engage the rear guide pin to the lifter arm slot.

The lifter arm plastic slides are not installed properly in the track slots.

  1. Inspect the lifter arms for plastic sides that are bent.
  2. Install the lifter arm front slides into the track slot.

The lifter arms do not properly connect to the glass panel.

Properly connect the lifter arms to the glass panel.

The motor is not supplied with the proper voltage (12.6 volts) or the amperage range for glass running is not proper (3-5 amps).

Refer to Diagnostic Starting Point

The motor drive gear is worn.

  1. Inspect the sunroof motor gear.
  2. Replace the sunroof motor gear as necessary.

The cable is worn.

  1. Inspect the sunroof track.
  2. Replace the sunroof module as necessary.

The sunshade is not properly installed.

  1. Inspect the sunshade.
  2. Install the sunshade as necessary.

Noisy Sunroof Operation

Problem

Action

DEFINITION: The sunroof operates noisily or rattles.

The rear guide pins are not properly engage in the cam slot of the lifter arm.

Engage the rear guide pins.

The lifter arm is not properly attached to the glass panel.

Properly attach the lifter arms.

The lifter arm plastic slides are not properly installed in the track slots.

  1. Inspect the lifter arm for bent plastic slides.
  2. Install lifter arm front slides in the track slots.

The guide track(s) are not properly secured to the housing.

Securely attach the tracks to the housing.

The sunshade is not installed properly.

  1. Inspect the sunshade installation.
  2. Reinstall the sunshade as necessary.

Abnormal Sunroof Operation

Problem

Action

DEFINITION: The power sunroof does not stop at the closed or comfort stop position.

The travel limit switch is defective.

Replace the motor.

The motor is out of time with the module.

Synchronize the motor.
