Diagnostic Aids

An intermittent or poor connection can cause the express open feature of the sunroof not to operate. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.

Test Description

The steps below refer to the test steps in the diagnostic table.

  1. Connect a 3 amp fused jumper to the open circuit and express open circuit of the Power Sunroof Slide Switch, then connect to ground circuit of the Power Sunroof Slide Switch for less than 1 second. If this procedure is not performed correctly, the express open command will not function.

  1. Connect a 3 amp fused jumper to the open circuit and express open circuit of the Power Sunroof Slide Switch, then connect to ground for less than 1 second. If this procedure is not performed correctly, the express open command will not function.

Did you perform the Power Sunroof Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Operate the Power Sunroof Slide Switch to the EXPRESS OPEN position (hold the switch less than 1 second).

Does the sunroof open to the EXPRESS OPEN position?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the Power Sunroof Switches harness connector.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Measure the voltage between the express open circuit of the Power Sunroof Slide Switch to the ground circuit of the Power Sunroof Slide Switch.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15 V

Go to Step 5

Measure the voltage between the express open circuit of the Power Sunroof Slide Switch to a good ground.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15 V

Connect a 3 amp fused jumper between the express open and slide open circuits of the Power Sunroof Slide Switch to the ground circuit of the Power Sunroof Slide Switch for less than 1 second.

Does the sunroof open to the EXPRESS OPEN position?

Connect a 3 amp fused jumper wire between the express open and slide open circuits of the Power Sunroof Slide Switch to a good ground for less than 1 second.

Does the sunroof open to the EXPRESS OPEN position?

Test the ground circuit of the Power Sunroof Slide Switch for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the express open circuit of the Power Sunroof Slide Switch harness for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the power sunroof switches. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the sunroof control module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the Power Sunroof Slide Switch. Refer to Sunroof Switch Replacement .
