Press the fuel door release button on the keyless entry transmitter.

Does the fuel door open?

--

  1. Connect a scan tool to the data link connector (DLC).
  2. Using the instrument panel integration module (IPM) data display , at the Non-HVAC data screen on the scan tool, observe the state of the fuel door release switch input.

Is the input ON when the fuel door release button is pressed and OFF when the button is released?

  1. Disconnect fuel door release switch connector.
  2. Measure resistance between the switch connector terminal 4 and ground.

Is the resistance within the range specified?

0-3 ohms

Using a fused jumper wire, jumper terminal 1 of the switch connector to ground.

Does the fuel door open?

Press the rear compartment lid release switch on the instrument panel.

Does the rear compartment lid open?

  1. Connect the scan tool.
  2. Press the fuel door release button on the instrument panel.
  3. Check the IPM inputs on the scan tool.

Does the scan tool indicate that the input toggles OFF/ON?

With the fuel door release switch disconnected, check the resistance from pin 4 of the release switch connector to ground.

Is the resistance within the specified range?

0-3 ohms

  1. Press the fuel door release switch on the instrument panel.
  2. Check the RIM outputs on the scan tool.

Does the scan tool indicate that the output toggles OFF/ON?

With the connecter still connected, check the voltage at pin A10 connector C2 of the rear fuse block.

Is the value within the specified range?

10.5-15 V

Check the ALDL fuse in the rear fuse block.

Is the fuse good?

Inspect the ALDL fuse and the BODY fuse located in the rear fuse block.

Are both fuses good?

  1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the rear integration module.
  2. Using a fused jumper wire, jumper terminal A4 of the rear integration module harness connector to ground.

Does the fuel door open?

Measure the voltage at terminal B of the fuel door release solenoid harness connector.

Is the voltage within specified range?

10.5-15 V

Measure the voltage at pin D9 connector C2 of the rear fuse block. Is the value within the specified range?

  1. Disconnect the fuel door release solenoid.
  2. With the jumper wire still in place, measure the voltage at terminal B of the fuel door release solenoid connector to ground.

Is the voltage within specified range?
