The fuel door release system consists of the following main components.

    • The fuel door release actuator.
    • A fuel door release button. This button is mounted on the instrument panel below the headlamp switch.
    • A valet switch (release lockout switch). This switch is located in the instrument panel compartment (glovebox).
    • The keyless entry transmitter.

Pressing the fuel door release button opens the fuel filler door provided that the following conditions are both true:

    • The gear shift lever is in PARK or NEUTRAL.
    • The valet switch is in the OFF position.

Pressing the fuel door release button on the keyless entry transmitter opens the rear compartment provided that one of the following is true:

    • The ignition switch is OFF.
    • The ignition switch is in RUN and the gear shift lever is set to PARK.

The valet switch (when set to ON) disables the fuel door release button on the instrument panel. It also disables the keyless entry fob fuel door release button.

The fuel door may also be opened using the manual fuel door release, located in the top of the rear compartment, on the left hand side.
